Canada (in red) is one of the largest countries in the world, in terms of size.

At the time of confederation, there were 4 provinces: Ontario (yellow), Quebec (orange), Nova Scotia (pink), and New Brunswick (dark orange).

Manitoba (light green) joined Confederation in 1870; British Columbia (light blue) in 1871; Prince Edward Island (red) in 1873.

Saskatchewan (lime green) and Alberta (green) joined Confederation in 1905.
