Press Release
December 2004 Charles J.G. Verge, President of The Royal Philatelic Society of Canada (RPSC), has announced that Janet Klug of Pleasant Plain, Ohio will act as official United States commissioner to coordinate exhibits from the United States for ROYAL *2005* ROYALE. The ROYAL, the annual convention and bourse of the Society, will be held at London, Ontario May 27 -30, 2005. Sponsored by the Middlesex Stamp Club, the 77th annual convention and exhibition will be held at the London Convention Centre on 300 York Street. Janet Klug, who is currently president of the American Philatelic Society, hopes to generate a number of informative exhibits for Canada’s premiere philatelic show. Exhibits from another country always add to the variety and usually attract considerable attention. In making the announcement, Mr. Verge said it is “important to have strong philatelic exhibits from the U.S. at the ROYAL.” Such exhibits “create plenty of interest” and enable collectors from south of the border “to have another venue to show their collections.” Verge added “since Ms. Klug will be a member of the philatelic jury at London, it is appropriate for her to act as commissioner.” As commissioner, Janet Klug plans to circulate prospectuses about the London show and encourage exhibitors in the U.S. to send their best work to Canada. Potential U.S. exhibitors may reach Janet Klug at P.O. Box 250, Pleasant Plain, OH 45162; telephone/fax: 513-625-8543; e-mail: < TongaJan@aol.com >. The theme for ROYAL*2005*ROYALE is Postmark London, which will celebrate London’s postal and philatelic heritage. The theme is apt since London is marking its 150th anniversary during 2005.
