Canada's Stamps of 2003

14th Annual Stamp Poll

** POLL HAS CLOSED **

The listing below is taken from Canada Post's details magazine (July to September 2004, Volume XIII No 3) and a supplement in the July/August 2004 Canadian Philatelist, and is presented with the same numbering scheme (notice that number 41 was omitted for some reason).

From the President's Page (Charles J.G. Verge, FRPSC), The Canadian Philatelist, July/August 2004:

Canadian Stamp News (CSN), whose staff lays out and puts together this magazine every two months, is well known for having a stamp poll of the previous year's stamps. This poll is a little late this year because of a change in its format and approach. Some time ago, I informed Paul Winkler, President of Trajan Publications, the parent company of CSN, that I felt that the results of CSN's poll weren't indicative of the general public's view of Canadian stamps. I suggested that he consider giving it a wider audience and ensure that as many people as possible would have access to it. As a result, and with the cooperation of Canada Post, this year's poll is being distributed to tens of thousands of subscribers to CSN, The CP, Stamp Details, Philatelie Quebec, and our respective websites. I hope that these results will better reflect the views of a majority of collectors.

Thanks to Paul for buying into this exercise and to all the partners for going along.

There are also a couple of questions at the end of the stamp poll. Please select ONE item from each column...

What one aspect of Canada or its culture would you like to see commemorated on a stamp?

All U.S. stamps are now self-adhesive. Should Canada Post do the same, or should some stamps always be issued as traditional gummed?
